Rockaway Beach
Rockaway Beach is a curved cove with a strip of restaurants and shops, an overlook and the abandoned limestone quarry that helped rebuild San Francisco after 1906.

Discover Rockaway Beach
Rockaway Beach lies in a gently curving embayment with a scenic overlook. Nick’s Seafood Restaurant is the oldest place on the strip, and many of the newer shops date from the city’s 1986 redevelopment plan. (Wikipedia)
Limestone from the quarry whitewashed the San Francisco Presidio from 1776 and, from 1907, went into the Ocean Shore Railroad’s roadbed and the rebuilding of San Francisco. The quarry closed in 1987. (Wikipedia)
