Sharp Park
Sharp Park is named for George Sharp, whose widow left the land to San Francisco as a public park. Alister MacKenzie’s oceanside golf course and the Laguna Salada marsh fill much of it.

Discover Sharp Park
George Sharp’s widow, Honora, bequeathed the coastal land to San Francisco in 1917, asking that it be a public park or playground. The Pacifica Historical Society says the area was once called Salada Beach and offers a self-guided history walk. (Wikipedia, Pacifica Historical Society)
Sharp Park Golf Course opened in 1932 and is the only public oceanside course Alister MacKenzie designed in the United States. (Wikipedia)
During World War II the area held the Sharp Park Detention Station for Japanese Americans, Japanese nationals and others the government called foreign enemies. (Wikipedia)
