Before the Spanish, Pacifica had two significant Ohlone villages: Pruristac on San Pedro Creek near today’s Sanchez Adobe, and Timigtac on Calera Creek near Rockaway Beach. They were villages of the Aramai band of the Ramaytush Ohlone and the only Ohlone villages between Montara Mountain and the Golden Gate.
In 1782 and 1783 many people of Pruristac were relocated to Mission Dolores. The first Ohlone Day, honoring them, was held at the Sanchez Adobe on October 26, 2019.
